Coming out of Providence Harbor, @ Gaspee Point where the the revolutionary war really started, it's plain to see how the Gaspee was grounded..

No Photoshop filter can compare with a dedicated IR camera. Nice image. I like the one with the dogs walking too from your site.

Thanks guys.

The ship is just fine, and here you can see freighters and tankers making this passage almost daily.
The photo of course makes it look closer than it actually is, but this narrow passage was much harder to navigate in colonial times under sail than it is under power,. and thus the Gaspee (A British revenue cutter) struck while chasing some Rhode Island "Libertarians" (smugglers) :)

This brought the angry citizens of Warwick RI out in long boats to torch the revenue cutter and burn in to the waterline, and to fire the first shots of the Revolutionary War. The recipient of this shot, one Lieutenant Commander Duddingston, received the bullet "six inches below the navel" as the logs comment. He survived poor fellow.

No don't talk to me or my fellow Gaspee Pointers about any tea party! Just because our motives were somewhat less honorable, we get no credit!
