Hello everyone,
I've been going crazy wanting to pick up an x100s and every time I'm about to pull the trigger, something comes up. This last time it was the need for a lens for my main body. I still want to get my hands on a Fujifilm camera and I keep seeing this deal for the X-M1 and kit lens pop up. $450 shipped for the lens/body kit. Would I enjoy my Fuji experience if I want that route? No EvF is a bummer, but I'd get back to shooting a lot more street and everyday photography plus break into the world of Fuji. Any thoughts/advice/suggestions?

that's a pretty good deal to break into Fuji. As you said the lack EVF sucks, but its a solid sensor and I hear good things about the 16-50 for the money. If your budget can swing it, the XE2 and 18-55 will be a big step up in performance and show you just how good Fuji is.

Thank you for the response, I really appreciate it.

I used to carry around my 6D and pancake lens everywhere I went. Everyday to work, weekend trips, trips to other cities, it didn't matter. Then I started booking weddings and other paid work. Now I'm extremely hesitant to take my working tools with me lol. I want an x100/s/x-m1 as an extension of me basically. I hate being without a camera and as good as my Note 3's camera is, it doesn't cut it.

An XE2 is out of range right now but if it was in range, I'd opt for the x100s.

$450 to break into the Fuji experience, keep my work horse safe at home and still have a camera on me at all times. I'm thinking I'll jump on this deal.

I'd hold off and keep saving, half the reason I prefer my X-E1 over my EOS M is because of the EVF. You can get an X100 for around $500 or an X-E1 for under $400 (not including lens), I think either would be a better buy than the X-M1 for your intended purpose.

Some good deals on used X-E2s that are Prime eligible: http://smile.amazon.com …words=x-e2&condition=used (external link)

Personally, I'd skip the X-M1.

I'd hold out for what you really want. Don't settle. The X20 is a completely different camera. Getting anything but what you want is just GAS kicking in.

Just save for the X100s. Used ones go for $950ish.

lol I just go down these worm holes and end up not really knowing how I got here. Like a bad hangover.

The x-m1 and lens kit got me excited for the price, sensor and wifi capabilities, but I don't want my first experience with fuji to be anything less than the best.

Ok guys, walking away from the cliff. Thank you all very much.

Honestly, why not an original X100? I prefer the colors from that sensor, anyway. And with the firmware updates, it's every bit as good as the X100s, IMO.

I didn't wanna be a bigger bother and take up more of your time, but I am open to the x100. I am worried about the AF (did firmware update help that?), 12mp vs 16mp, but I am wondering what the biggest difference is. I haven't been able to find a decent deal on an x100 yet, and since it is still expensive, I always just say I'll bite the bullet and get the x100s instead. Yet here I am still waiting and unable to make a purchase...

A comparison video I made of the D-pads from an early and late batch X-T1:

AF is great with the newest firmware and 12MP is fine for what I do. I don't crop and I don't print large format, so I'd rather have the smaller files (aka more pics on the memory card) of the original X100.

I'e seen the original X100 go for about $550-$600 now.

Hey, here are some great deals.

The ONLY thing to watch out for is a model prone to stick aperture blades. Google will tell you which serial numbers to stay away from.

Some people prefer the files off a Bayer sensor more than the X-trans. If it were me personally, I would go for the x100s since it has a lot of improvements, but I could see where someone would want to get the x100, save some green, and have Bayer files to work with.

wow! you are the best. I think you just answered my prayers. I'll ask the first seller if I could get the serial number then compare the two. Life saver.
