did a quick photoshoot with a friend, perfect time to test my new 35mm lens on the A7, Voigtlander Color-Skopar Pan 35mm 2.5.
Fantastic lens for the money on the A7, sharper on corners than my 35mm Nokton.

Lovely night views X Tan! What ISO are you using? And how do you establish your exposure?

Thanks, khukri.

All auto ISO @ f/1.4, 1/60s. (Auto ISO were: 2500, 800, 160, 3200, 2500, 2000)

As it was street lighting at night, or low lighting in a restaurant; I didn't carry a tripod. So I used the large aperture (f/1.4) to keep my ISO down.

If I carried a tripod, I would use ISO 100, f/5.6 for the street scene; and ISO 400, f/2 for those drink shots.

Anyone who used a TS-E tell me about focus peaking with that lens and this camera?

It seems like a godsend for using with a TS-E...:)

I'm curious to pick up an A7 and use my FD lenses until I can pick up a Voigtlander 35mm f/1.2 One of my friends was using that combo over the weekend and I was impressed. But I kinda want to give it another try to see how I could cope with it and using the A7. I'm use to manually focusing on my Canon A1 and YashicaMat 124G but lets see how it works on the A7.

Anyone else using Canon FD lenses with their A7? If so what adaptors are you guys using with it?
Thanks

Cheers Rick , I ordered my A7R last night with one of these to be getting on with http://www.amazon.co.uk …ase-Control/dp/B00GSAEN4A (external link)

Its odd , the Giga T pro is compatible with the same cameras as above one except the A7/A7R

Ive put a request to Hahnel to see if they'll get their Giga T pro to work , currently it seems they only work on A55/A33/A100/A200/A300/A350/A450/A500/A550/A560/A580/A700/A850/A900 which is a shame as Ive not had a better wireless remote ever - they work brilliantly.

Has anyone tried this?

I ended up getting that IR remote as well and it works from behind the camera, which I originally didn't think it would. Great accessory for the $8 that I paid on Amazon for it! And I'll have my wireless intervalometer soldered up hopefully tonight or tomorrow. I'm happy that I'll finally have my intervalometer back!

focus peak and magnification is great on the A7, found it easier to use than in any other cameras. No experience with TS-E on it yet but I can imagine it being great.
I might buy a cheap TS lens (either AIS or OM) to play around on the A7 one day

My buddy gave me his cheap $15 FD-NEX adapter as he bought a Novoflex but I'm very happy with it. I don't use it for long exposure but if you plan on doing, make sure there's no light leak.
I love manual focusing with the A7, I have C1 configured for magnification and it's a god send for critical focusing.
I had both FD 24L and 85L, both great performers on the A7.
Now I have the 135mm 2, 50mm Macro and just ordered an FD 100-300.
The 20mm 2.8 is another FD lens that works great on the A7/r

Finally got my Metabones Adapter today.. been sitting here 2 days with an A7R and no lenses to use!... Oh my what lovely files it has..

I tested that remote too, and I thought it was only working from the front too.. I think I must have had my hand over a sensor though as soon as it was put down it worked from anywhere.
It a temp one for me that , hopefully Hahnel will get its Giga T Pro to work with it.

Cheers just managed to test with the TS-E and you're right its brilliant , I can actually see the focal plane twisting and lighting up red as I rotate the lens, and when tilting I can see more and more becoming in focus - this focus peaking was made for TS-E :D

I have some questions, hope someone can help.

The 50mm 1.2 , It only opens up to 1.3 ?? Huh? - Metabones adapter?

Batteries , I bought 2 non Sony and they work in the camera but dont charge in camera.. or in grip, is that normal? .. not overly worried as Ive ordered an external charger

These (external link) are the batteries and the description says they can charge in camera

EDIT: It seems you cant charge in camera with a grip attached , Ive managed to get the 3rd party charging removing the grip and putting one in camera... charger cant come quick enough.

I can't answer your question regarding the batteries but for the stops showing differently, the way I understand it, the camera reads stops in thirds rather than 1/2 stops. So, even though your lens is really open to f1.2, it shows up as f1.3

Thanks for that I actually thought it may have been the adapter losing a bit, I sorted the batteries , apparently you cant charge even the genuine Sony batteries with the grip on.

What adapters are more recommended? The novoflex or metabones for say FD or M mount? Or are there other alternatives that are just as good as the expensive ones?
