Jun 12, 2014 11:33 | #14 Ok, these look like more than just the typical grab shots that get posted so here's my thoughts. They are nice pictures but, the horse lacks expression. It looks like a nice horse but I would not want to look at a large print of any of these three every day. I see tired or bored when I look at these. The wonder of horses is their spirit and power. It can be very challenging to get a horse stimulated enough to get a great expression and still keep all the other important considerations (like lighting, framing and focus) in check. A little stimulation can go a long way toward creating more expression; it could be a sound or a smell or just showing them a treat they like. In my opinion, Christiane Slawik is the master of capturing the spirit of horses. She is always willing to go the extra mile to get the great shot. Check out some of her work.
