I love the second one. For me, I like the eyes open like they are in the 2nd one, in the first one they're a bit too hooded.

Hi Ksbal, Your #2 picture is outstanding. Love it. My wife has been asking me to go take portraits of her horses, now I might. Cheers, Charlie

I think they are good efforts--but the masking in #1 robs the image a bit--it just needs to be cleaned up or softened a bit.
#2, I like this one except for the halter being so high up on the nose--it looks restrained.
I like the third one, but maybe soften the noise on the neck?

Well done though!

Great Critique, I'll look that all over - that is exactly what I need. - Thanks!

Ok, these look like more than just the typical grab shots that get posted so here's my thoughts. They are nice pictures but, the horse lacks expression. It looks like a nice horse but I would not want to look at a large print of any of these three every day. I see tired or bored when I look at these. The wonder of horses is their spirit and power. It can be very challenging to get a horse stimulated enough to get a great expression and still keep all the other important considerations (like lighting, framing and focus) in check. A little stimulation can go a long way toward creating more expression; it could be a sound or a smell or just showing them a treat they like. In my opinion, Christiane Slawik is the master of capturing the spirit of horses. She is always willing to go the extra mile to get the great shot. Check out some of her work.
