I have metabones adaptors for Nikon G and Canon EF and cheap ones for other mounts such as FD and M42

What adapters are more recommended? The novoflex or metabones for say FD or M mount? Or are there other alternatives that are just as good as the expensive ones?

no experience with the high end FD adapter but for M mount, consider the Novoflex and Voigtlander adapter. From what I've read the Metabones M adapter are a little tight but maybe that way it doesn't suffer light leak like my Novoflex M

Mine just got here a few minutes ago. The thing certainly looks funky with a 17 TSE or 85L mounted on it. ;-)a

The Big-Is adapter is really good for the price and it allow to focus to infinity also. Use them on my minolta and konica lens. For M-mount I have read that the voigtlander adapter is really good.

a7r and nikon 14-24.

Just skimmed through this whole thread and excited for what people are doing with this camera. I just picked up an A7 body and now need some Canon glass!

Thanks James. Got the camera last night - thunderstorms rolled in. Ugh lol

My test shots so far have been very encouraging. I know my biggest issue is going to be composing in the dark. Not sure what to do about that.

taemo, stunning shot of the Story Bridge.

Todd, the best I have been able to work out (credit is due to one of the guys in one of these 3 A7 threads for pointing me in this direction in the first place - I haven't been able to find better) is in the "Gear" menu, page 2, option named "Live View Display", setting that to "Setting Effect OFF". It doesn't help too much in the pitch dark with the aperture closed down on a manual lens but it's a hell of a lot better than with that setting ON

Ah that’s very good to know. I'll try that. I'm sitting in the middle of massive thunderstorms right now, so still haven't really been able to get out and shoot with it yet - Dammit!

8-)

Finally got some hands on time with the Sony A7R and am blown away. Also used the new A7S but could not put my card in for some test shots. Lets just say this, ISO 12,800 looks like ISO 400 on my 6D. Its that good. I'm determined to jump to the A7R and sell off the 6D for the A7S down the road.
