Well, you have 2 things:

1. For image quality say at standard ISOs up to 3200 then A7R smoking that 5Dc, also that 5Dc can't go higher than 3200, i can't remember if it can go up to 3200 either, so then A7R wins here no doubt.

2. AF speed, using the metabones adapters sure will slow the focus, but, using that 15mm and 17-40 you are shooting so wide scene and then you don't need to use AF speed all the time, i don't think you are shooting fast moving subjects, so that 5Dc will not be that much big help, i know that 5Dc maybe faster AF than A7R, but think what you shoot with 5Dc using 15mm or 17-40.

So, from above, if i have the choice i will go with A7R, but the way, i have 16-35L and 15mm fisheye and also 5Dc and 1Ds3 and 1DX, so i am experienced with full frame camera and i chose A7R for what i will shoot with 16-35L and 15mm.

Ait, thanks, still in doubt if I'm getting the A7r or the new A7s, since the high ISO performance on the A7r seems good but still so so. On the other hand, the 36mp is pretty tempting :P

Here are two 'albums' of mine that were all shot using the Sony a7r + Canon 17-40L. In my opinion, it's a great combination.

Thanks! nice colours, is sharpness good as well? (can't really judge on a 1000px wide image)

So, why aren't you happy with 5Dc if you look for or in doubt about A7r or A7s? Why you buy another camera if that 5Dc is good enough and you are happy with it? if not then buy A7r without doubt, don't try to make us pushing you to buy it if you are not sure, but i know we all ask questions here because we look for others experiences and impressions, and i told you about mine, now it is you to decide.

So, I just got an A7R and I'm still trying to get used to Sony, small size, large files and clean shadows.

I saw a deal on a used Grip so I picked that up. Are you guys using the grip? I also bought an L bracket for it from John Milich. Not many options out there for a gripped A7.

Mainly poor dynamic range and a lot of noise above ISO 1250. I wanna go compact as well, since it is a pain in the ass to carry all the gear everytime.

Congrats! It's about damn time you saw the light! ;) :p I tried the grip and returned it. :)

Sharpness is amazing and when reducing file size, care has to be taken so that the image doesn't wind up too sharp.

Here's the link to one of my shots from March Field at 2560 x 1709. Maybe that will give you a better idea of sharpness using the 17-40 along with the a7r

And for noise, this shot was taken at iso 6400. I did run noise reduction on it.

I just added a link to another image above at iso 6400...you're too fast for me. :D Oh, and I assume you realize that some sharpening was applied to the aircraft photo too.
