Mark48, I agree with you, just got some stuff from Adorama today, no drama, no problem! I get the same from B&H as well. This has been a good heads up about Abe's, still sad to hear what used to be a reliable place to do business with (in my experience) changing to a company you may be rolling the dice with.

BBB is a effin joke. You want to hurt their pocket? Go post on all of their social media sites and if you don't,then all the fuss is for nothing. Watch how quickly everything gets resolved once you hit them where they will least expect.

You means places like resellerratings? They have Abe's listed with an 8.50 rating, a better rating than B&H (8.30). Go figure.

Like the guys mentioned before and also from personal experience Abe of Maine was once a good place but they were bought out, with that in place, they have all their assets include those reviews from back the day. Places like ResellerRatings should have the reviews reset when a company is bought out or a change in ownership.

The old Abe's was solid from my film days in the 70's until my final purchase in 2011. Great prices and service under the former company.
But that was then and this is now! AVOID!

morph2_7;16906433...It's "my name peggy" ....and yes,it truly nails it!

Yea, I just filed a complaint with BBB.org about them. Have to let the public know.

BBB is paid by business. They are for profit and not for protecting consumers. They censor out most complaints so the business paying good money will alway have a good rating.

I just wrote a long post on my site to try to get the word out about this retailer-turned-bad.

Unfortunately some other websites are starting to promote "deals" from Abe's of Maine (I see the EOS 6D for $1289 "deal" starting to get posted), which is probably the worst thing to do.

The BBB is a little like the fox guardin' the hen house!

More detailed information about the company ownership switch:

Wow I had no idea the change in ownership was this recent. I have been seeing a lot more complaints about Abes and said to myself, I have always had great experiences with them. I bought a few of my Sigma lenses from them, and other than the stupid upsell call, I never had issues. But I bought right before they bankruptcy and ownership change. That explains why everything went south and is staying there. To me, they were just another buydig.com or other non NY based online store.

I've bought a lot of stuff from them over the years, and they used to be top notch. Apparently something's changed. I haven't bought from them for the past 2years probably.

I hope you contacted your credit card company and explain the situation. Also, consider closing the account.
