Well, that 35 certainly has that 3D-ish Zeiss contrast in spades, doesn't it? :D

amazing details. and sharpness...

Thanks. I failed to mention that those images were captured using the Zeiss FE 35mm F2.8 ZA and have now corrected that.

I just got this lens yesterday and I'm really liking the sharpness/contrast so far.

Ahhh - very cool. Worked at a shop that sold VPI for a while - between $1500 and $10k, I don't think that I'd more highly recommend any other brand. I like the Benz sound, too - I have an Ace S on my Roksan Xerxes. Also have the Benz Ti watch, but that doesn't sound nearly as good. ;)

Question for you guys....

Who have tried the yongnuo 603s to work with our camera? I bought a couple of Pixel King mainly for outdoor HSS needs.

For basic studio lighting, i don't need HSS so i thought the 603s will work. I used to own the yn622c(canon) and it works in full manual(only) which is ok for me in studio work.

What method do you use to balance the sky and ground exposures? I like the colourtones.

The last shot is a stitch of 3 50mm shots with no blending. I had hiked in there with nothing but my 50 and a polarizer so that's what I got. I wanted to stay til sunset but decided shorts/tshirt/tennis shoes wasn't a winning combination.

The third shot is unblended, just recaptured highlights in LR.

For the first two, I ended up at the smaller of the Reflection Lakes. Those were shot -3, 0, +3 using the $8 amazon remote. I experimented blending them by hand using alpha channel masking. It looked ok but not quite. I then went to Photomatix which 90% of the time looks like crap. Then onto Enfuse, which is the HDR plug in for Lightroom. It blends giving preference to exposure, contrast, and saturation. I played with the settings until it looked as I remembered it.

I then opened the file in Photoshop, darkened the midrange a bit, lightened some of the trees and darkened the foreground.

Hope that helps - Mike
