Beautiful! I've rarely seen a lion photo with that kind of sky background!

I was about to same the same exact thing. Crazy how you got this background because normally it's just a plain simple desert sand background. Great capture.

Oh my, what a great capture.

A lot of power in that photo.

Cheers!

Oh now I understand. We were at Erindi in a deserted old quarry and the lioness was laying on the top, so we had to shoot up at the lioness. I also have 3 adolescents playing on the slope that the image is not nearly as impressive.
Check out her right eye (camera left) the cornea is diagonal.

Wow, I had decided before reading any of the replies that the sky was fake!
Amazing shot!

Thanks for the kudo's guys, this is a once in a lifetime shot. In the 7 or so years that I have been leading safaris into Africa I have not shot a lion or lioness up in the light like this. Leopard certainly, but lion no, as they are usually below the horizon

I agree. Some post processing is afoot. Nice job.

And to HeyBJK I say 295.

I never said that there was no post processing on the image. Few images are published today without any sort of post work. Just said that we were at an angle where I got to shoot into the sky.
With the light that was there and the angle (shooting up into the sky) I had to bring out the features and clouds in the sky that were already there.
