Where in Canon's website did you get the information about the number of aspherical lens elements in the lens?

I don't even know what to believe anymore. I find too many inconsistencies between Canon's different regional websites. Canon USA says the 10-18mm lens have an "enhanced coating" that helps resist flare. Canon UK says the 10-18mm lens have the Super Spectra coating.

From the CanonUSA site:

The 10-18:

There is a possible contradiction though, in that the write-up for the 10-18 only mentions 1 aspheric lens:

This is just sad. I don't understand why there are such inconsistencies in Canon's website. It would be more understandable if they're a small company, but we're talking about a multi-billion dollar company here.

While waiting for CallumRD1's review, the lens is already on sales in HK and here's the first review: http://www.dcfever.com/news/readnews.php?id=10712 (external link) It's all in chinese but there are 6 full-size samples to peep at. That lens looks like the fat brother of the 18-55 STM :)

To my novice eyes, the pics aren't bad. But there is only one outdoor shot.

I haven't seen any pictures of the hood for it (that i recall). I wonder if it will help out with that flare..if it's deeper than the 10-22's?

FYI, that last shot showing the flare is taken through a window.

Hmmm, how many elements did the window have? That many separate flare spots will not be caused by a window. That is lens flare, and it don't look good.

I'm just stating it was shoot through a window, didn't say it caused the flare. We got your grip about flares :)

Here is the new EW-73C hood for this lens. It does look deep for an UWA: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …001_ew_73c_lens_hood.html (external link)

EF-S 10-18 STM review published

I've a Canon EF-S 10-18mm review just written up.

http://www.northlight-images.co.uk …enses/canon_efs10-18.html (external link)

Hope it's of some interest.

I've still got a few more pics to sort, and some RAW samples.

Some sunny weather would be helpful, but I have to say that it's impressed me for a relatively cheap lens

bye for now
