Had a 6D....
Then had a daughter....
Now have an SL2 and Mavic Pro.... Man life changes.
I would encourage you... To just go for it.

I ordered mine. I'm looking forward to shooting RAW underwater. I was never that happy with a D20.

I got it last time it was 20% off. I am happy with it, too bad the snorkeling part of our trip did not work out. No issues on the beach and shallow ocean. I like that I do not have to worry about sand. Dont forget extra batteries and chdk, if you are into that kind of thing.

I'm not a scuba diver; but occasionally snorkel. But I'm thinking about this for general beach use. Seems like it will be way more bullet proof and yield better results than a typical waterproof P&S. But I'm wondering how tough the controls are with the case.

The case definitely adds bulk to the camera alone, but it still smaller than a Rebel. All buttons and dials have a corresponding button/dial on the case, but works much better if you know them by memory. Only cannot use the touchscreen and the back dial. Apparently not as tough as some of the more pricier cases, but for general beach/pool/fish tank use, no need for anything more heavier.
