Guys remember BH/Adorama/Beach close early on fridays and are closed all day on saturdays due to religious reasons. They will put new items as "in stock" on fridays knowing they cant ship, to drive up orders as others stores dont have them (they dont either and they know shipments come on mondays)

I can't speak for other retailers, but this is 100% NOT true for Adorama!

If you see 'IN STOCK' on the Adorama website, it means that the items have been unpacked physically scanned into our system and are sitting on the shelves. Nothing more or less.

We NEVER indicate that an item is in stock if it is not; for one, because the system isn't configured that way, and second, because we would look like complete idiots if the expected shipment didn't arrive due to eg weather prolems or carrier issues.

If it says IN STOCK, it is on the shelves. (However, if the number of back orders exceeds the number of units available, as soon as the final piece is scanned off the shelves the IN STOCK notice will disappear)

I won't do business with Adorama anymore. I placed orders with them during the Lexar sale, and my items are on back order and they just absolutely suck to deal with in regard to updates and such.

I'm sorry to say this but you are venting at the wrong people.

It is the supplier who sucks at supplying updates; if they won't / can't tell us, we can't tell you. Well, we can't tell you honestly. There are retailers who will give you their 'best guess' date to keep you quiet and keep your business. Our philosophy is to under-promise and then do our best to over-deliver.

Obviously that approach doesn't suit every customer and I apologise for the inconvenience that this causes.

Looks like the Adorama Ambassador just pulled out the whip and thoroughly thrashed a few of the naysayers.She has a point though about the manufacturers and their supply chain. I just wish Adorama would have the option of bill me now or bill me when we ship as I ordered a few Lexar SDs and since then the value of my currency has depreciated somewhat, effectively reducing the 'special price'.

Anyway, hope those who get their 16-35s soon will post some reviews.

PayPal and foreign debit cards are debited immediately - would that work for you?

I know it's off topic (apologies) but I got caught out with the adorama ordering system when I ordered 2 identical items; there was only 1 in stock.

Whilst adorama happily refunded the purchase price of our of stock item, they did not refund the shipping fee.

Shortly after that battery collapsed in the laptop I had purchased from adorama. It was 12 days outside the adorama refund window, 35 days, so no help.

Equally unhelpful was the wrong supplier link to rectify the collapsed battery. You may feel that the adorama system has improved; I hope my feedback shows where you can still improve.

Just got a backorder notification from Best Buy:

"We're sorry. The item listed below is unavailable at the moment. We expect that it will be ready for delivery between June 25 and July 7."

There are exclusions, which are based upon our agreements with the manufacturers who supply to us - and we aren't able to change those.

Be wonderful to think that we might reach a point where none of our call center reps would ever mess up! Hopefully you got the correct details? If not please let me know.

Now I'm back to this screen on the website, and I've received the following text and email overnight.

mystik it looks like my dates are a little bit better than yours. I hope that holds true since I'm leaving overseas the night of July 3rd!

Same here, guess I was wrong about getting it next week. Leave on vacation July 9, will be close.

I'm still betting we r getting it this week. When the 6D got released Nov/Dec 2012, Taiwan/US/Canada got their stock within a week of each other.

Just got a shipping notification...for a colorchecker passport I'd forgotten that I ordered. What a tease.

Georges Camera (Australian retailer) is saying June 22 on their FB page.
