Hi all sorry for dropping in,
I only read as far back as post 3933. I just got mine last Friday and was wondering if mine has the latest f/w. I did not read anyone mention which batch has the old f/w and what serial # has the new f/w. My serial number starts with 009xxx (Canadian issue).
It's too late for me to call the store tonight but for sure will call them in the morning to confirm my copy.

Do you have the focusing problems that have been reported here? If not, then you don't need the FW upgrade. ;)

regardless of whether you need it or not. Wouldn't you want to know that your copy has the latest and greatest version? ;)

I'd love mine to have the latest and greatest... I just hate the idea of shipping the lens off... you never know how packages are handled... and paying about $40 bucks to do it.

How come they don't make these things (all modern lenses with firmware) with USB ports and let you download your own updates? That would be sweet. :)

go out and check in AI - a car , bird almost anything moving at or away from you . If it works in AI and AF , you should have the updated version . From your gear list the old version had problems with 7 D - so probably the XTI and 40 D also .

Um.. I disagree. I think I darn well know how the package will be handled and it ain't a pretty picture. ;):)

I was called "wonky" by a Canadian yesterday. And a Brit. I think they both called me that. So hearing that I'm silly doesn't surprise me.

Shipped mine yesterday with 2 days service using my discount ended up paying less than 40 bucks but still I feel like Tamron should pay for shipping for firmware updates. Well I am just hoping for a quick turn around of my lens. :)

Haven't been able to get out and test my updated one yet :(. Have had a cold , and weather has been crap.

But quick tests show it being faster/better than before, as I think I said.

I was worried about shipping it too, but when I got it back from Tamron, it was packed very well and they cleaned out the lens nicely too :). It was in a box of packing peanuts + wrapped in like 4-5 layers of bubble wrap, then also wrapped in plastic.

That is nice. I thought I did a good job packaging the lens with bubble wrap, packing peanuts. I hope I get it back next week since I sent 2 days delivery.
