i used the nikon 50mm 1.8d with d5100 and d5200 with doesnt have the motor, and it was a pain

The Nikon d5100 and d5200 have small and dark penta-mirror viewfinders... I'm not surprised. The 6D however, has a large and bright penta-prism viewfinder, add a precision matte EG-S screen into the mix and manual focus is easy and fast ;)

And as with anything, you have to practice. I don't miss my AF lenses at all, I don't have any for my 6D anymore. Unless you're shooting a fast moving subject MF is very easy imo.

aha, alot of good info, im getting 6d with tamron 70-200 2.8 vc, canon 17-40 f4, 50 1.8 or 1.4, alienbees b1600 and manythings, i was thinking about rokinon or samyung wide angel lenses but then decided to go for the canon 17-40 f4L .

If you insist on going with a Canon zoom I'd wait for the new 16-35mm f/4 personally, the MTF charts for it look amazing.

I had a bad copy of this lens with extreme light falloff. It's back to the store, so hopefully my new copy will be perfect! :) Really love this lens more than any of the lenses I've owned before.

First attempts with this lens (all multi shots stitched together), which I picked up used for a song, because the front element rattles when you shake the lens . Doesn't seem to be affecting it too much in use though.

You can fix that by putting your fingers on the front element and rotating it clockwise to tighten it down, problem solved for free ;)

That did help. Didn't get rid of the rattle entirely, but reduced it significantly. :D
