Here is one of my first shots taken with the Rokinon 85mm...needless to say it will stay on the camera for some major use!

No doubt, it's a fantastic lens :)

I get a copy tomorrow, hopefully I like it.

You will as long as you're patient. Nailing focus with it even stopped down a bit is tricky if you're not used to MF.

Just picked up one of these on Saturday. Great lens, dont think i will be disappointed picking this over the canon 85mm 1.8.
With the money i saved i managed to get a nikon 55mm 1.2 also!

Awesome, my friend just picked one up over the Canon for his 5D3 also, I was really surprised, he's the type of guy that'll usually just go for the L even if he doesn't need it . There's a lot of new comers into this thread in one day, pretty awesome!

QUOTED IMAGE

I love this color, I was looking for a wagon in this color for a while before I settled with a sedan in Imola Red. Great car though :D

Here's a couple more shots of that purple R35, I really loved this car

Like this lens, but the focus ring is a little slow.

That focus ring is perfect for videographers ;)

BTW - You guys know of course, that the new Vivitars are not Samyang rebrands anymore? Hopefully they're not mixed in this thread.

My copy just arrived, it's the newer samyang design referenced above, bought from B&H.

Anyhow, first impressions, what a great little piece of glass this is, I also got the EG-S screen which is a must for this beast, unless you want to be using live view for everything. Did a quick check for decenter, check, no issues there. The lens is nice and sharp, with the razor thing DOF. The focus ring is perfect for the manual focus, no accidental creeping possible. The lens is nice and compact and lightweight.

I need more practice manually focusing, but I have no regrets getting this over the canon 1.8. If sigma comes out with an 85mm ART, I might have to look into that though.

It's dampened like that on pupose, I wish all my telephoto lenses were as well dampened. My 135mm is a PITA to use because it's focus ring is so light.

Yhe "new" Vivitar (Opteka rebrand) is an f/1.8 not 1.4, I think the thread is safe ;)

^Nice bike, Chad. I've thought about picking up an old Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki like that for cruising around on the weekends.

Portrait I took of my wife with my rokinon 85. This was my first attempt at a studio style shot used a ring light for lighting . I figured out really quick that studio type shooting is a whole different ball game lol. I found I had to underexpose everything by about a stop to get proper exposure.

Lighting looks good. Framing could be better, the subject is cut off too much.

This is a fun lens, I still like this shot even though I backfocused it. I didn't have an extra second as he was about to roll off.

Can only blame my self with this lens though!
