Ok, so I went by the camera shop yesterday and started taking a look at the studio strobes there. I want a more powerful light that I can take on-location. I've been looking at a Cheetah Light 360 or an AB800 and have been leaning towards the AB800. The whole kit for an AB800 is less expensive than a whole kit for a CL360.

So back to yesterday- they had a Promaster PL400 that I was looking at and seriously considering. My question to you guys, does anyone use this strobe? What do you think of it? I'll probably power it on-location with a VML even though the camera shop stocks the Photogenic ION. I'm just looking for impressions of the PL400 since I can't seem to find much in the way of reviews online.

I used the 3500 a few years ago and had lots of charging issues and was told by Promaster that I had to use professional high powered rechargeables like the Powerex so I did and that fixed my problem. Check and see if it stays in manual when you use manual. Mine only stayed in manual for 2 minutes then automatically reverted back to auto.

Thanks for your input. The PL400 is a 400Ws studio strobe. I don't think it'll have the issue you experienced.
