This is part of the reason why I keep shooting with 40D. It creates fantastic results. But I'd still like to have a bit more modern AF system, if you know what I mean ;)

If you repeat it. I will deny it.
I'm more comfortable with my 40D than I am with my 7D :D

^^ Certainly it has limitations but the files on the 40D is so easy to manage. All my pics are shot in JPEG's and pretty much using the camera settings with little post processing. I'm a surf photographer and this body paired with some good glass brings out excellent results. Speed of course can't compete with the 1D bodies which is my primary setup during big surfing events. Overall, the 40D if you know how to use it's full capabilities will serve you well. ^^

I'm glad you explained this. I have been a lurker here and Ive notice a certain affection/dedication/loyalty (I'm not sure what word to use :o ) to 40D

Due to lack of knowledge to exposure I am still struggling with it. I bought it for the speed but did not realize the learning curve of the ISO. Don't get me wrong, it's not a buyers remorse but only to say that I got a long way to go before I put away my 40.

BTW ... nice!!! :D

As a surf photographer, I battle the constant changes of the weather. It may be sunny then in a second cloudy overcast; hazy, misty fog sets in along the coast aside from the blistering cold air at times. Here in SoCal we are blessed with beautiful beach and of course those BIF’s (Bikini In Flight) especially during summer. With that, I’m constantly aware about my ISO. Light is all about and if you get it right, the results are pure bliss.

Exposure is the keyword and you’re words described it best. I’m sure you’ll get it locked down in due time. Now go out there brotha and get some. Be sure to share it here hehehe.

You hit the nail on the head. Too many people upgrade thinking that a new camera is the answer before really knowing how to use the camera they have now. I think you are being to humble here though as you have posted some of the best pics on this site.

I don't mean to be argumentative. And I'd be the first one to admit that the upgrade was maybe over my head.
But there's somethign to be said about enjoying your hard earned cash. Isn't that why we worked hard for a living? It wasn't like I'm looking for the holy grail :D it's just that I had the cash and I want a new toy to chimp on. ...just explaining my frame of mind.

agree
but shooting in Dungeons like many of the fb games I do
demands the best stuff u can buy
70d is way better than my 40d for these games
especially Recycling lights which I hate
Politician Pat does a great job
and he has a prime which IMHO is sharper than a zoom

shooting people u can use a 20d

not a 6 man game in Aquilla lol
or a thumb thump game in May, Texas

I was not referring to you in any way. I think the 40D is a great purchase and you will soon learn all the ins and outs in no time. My thought was that someone with the newest camera and all the new technology would be hard pressed to match someone like Pat that uses the 40D to its full potential. Sorry for any confusion there.

no need to be sorry, it's just sometime I am guilty of thinking that my post was misunderstood :D
