Me too, I have yet to pull the trigger on a 50mm f1.2 yet. No rush

I just bought this lens and expect to receive it in a couple of days. The seller has just had it seviced by Canon (i thought they didn't service this lens as it has been discontinued) and comes with the original box and case.

Yeah.... I don't think Canon will service this lens. For your sake, I hope the copy that you're purchasing/purchased is functioning very well and legit.

The Canon servicing part does make it a little bit suspicious. *fingers crossed*

I do have some good glass. No fancy supertelephotos, however. This was just a rental I got for an airshow I went to shoot back in May.

It turns out that the lens was serviced by a private company and someone who was the former Head of Canon services in Germany so it's all above board.

Congrats. I could get one with a 6 month failure warranty. But it's about $4,850 USD
And a private seller has one posted online for $3,900 USD stating 0 issues but no returns.

I hope you enjoy the new lens. It is definitely still on my list to get, but my 50L f1.2 is no slouch.
