Shiprock Sunrise

Finally got back to Shiprock, this time at sunrise. The sky wasn't as friendly as my last visit almost two years ago. It was nice to stand next to it in awe. Nobody there on a Saturday morning.
Critique please.
1. First rays of sunrise.

2. I did not know these red rocks were there just off the road.

Like the first image. Yes, it could have used some clouds, but we can't control the things we have no control over.

Nice shots.
We had a storm come thru tonight and really lit up shiprock, but I was taking fireworks pics .
I could see lighting striking all around shiprock from my house in Farmington.

Great shots - first one for me is the pick - perfect light and the space around it (because of landscape orientation) gives it a real sense of imposing size.

2&3 look slightly overexposed to me?

Gordonb: Lightning shots at Shiprock would be exciting. You're pretty exposed out there. I'd like to try it though. I live in Abq. So I don't know when I'll be back.

I don't know what I did to #3, but the exposure and the tint was way off. Here is a better edit.
