Tried out a bit of Brenizer method whilst waiting in the airport this morning :-)

Thanks :-) It's so straight forward with this lens it's great! I've mainly been trying Brenizer method using my 35mm which is just waay to wide for it to work properly.

Yup. Me too. I find that 85 is my comfortable range. It easily gets me in the 35-50 range :). When you do this, most of the chromatic aberration also goes away.

I've requested another one from Amazon as mine was really struggling to get anything right at f1.4. Even on a tripod shooting a still object it would front focus severely even at +20. What was odd was that when stopped down to 2.8 it was fine. It just couldn't do anything at 1.4.

If this next copy is equally a dud I think I'll throw in the towel and exchange for a 100mm 2.8 L which I've only had good experiences with.

Tried out the new copy, and focus seems to be consistent from very close to mid to far away. Will try it out again in the same distances tonight to see if the different lighting affects its accuracy as much, and if it stays true I'll stick to this and look for an alternative macro another time.

^^ Cute! :)

Here's a 29 shot Brenizer or our family friends just prior to their departure back to the States.

Just picked up this lens and did a quick backyard test. 100% crop, seems to be pretty sharp. Can't wait to use it some more.
