Mine required AFMA (I believe -6 bare lens, -6 with 1.4x III TC and like -3 with 2x III TC).

I use the dot-tune method myself. I setup outside with the lens on a tripod and put a Fo-Cal printed target 15ft or more away and checked the value. I then would go closer and farther to see if it would change any. I would also check on trees/houses hundreds of feet away just for giggles... Usually, they are all really close in value.

I have used every other method known to do MA, but the dot-tune is the easiest and most accurate method. I just really only check one side of the range because I know my 5D usually has a range of just 14 points, so if the (-) side is good up until -8 (good confirmation at -7), then I know 0 MA is best. If it is -14, the MA value is -7... If -10, I know the other side would be +4 and my MA value would be -3... And so on. I can do a lens in few minutes.

A couple of recent shots. Both with 70D, 300 + 2x III.

A little explanation on this one. My wife and I often sit in a swing in our back yard watching for eagles, finches, etc. I usually have a camera with me. I noticed the sprinkler in the yard, and I thought it made an interesting photo. It was about 30 feet away.

Image editing ok; C&C always welcome.
