I made this shot by 5D MK III and Macro 100L IS a couple of mins ago with the help of iPad mini's light

just took mine out for a test run and feel like it is a bit soft.. even at 1.4 things are not feeling sharp

this doesnt really show the problem as its been reduced so much

but comparing images to my 35mm 1.4 (which is very sharp) im feeling a little disappointed with this lens so far

Since i have the 200 f2 L IS my 85 1.2 spends a lot of time in the camera bag :-)

It should be sharp wide open, but f/1.2 can be challenging. At f/1.4, it should be very sharp. Try shooting at f/2 to start, and if you can't get sharp images you may have a problem with your lens or possibly it requires some AFMA.

Nailing 1.2 on the 85 is one of the harder things to do. Much easier to land shots with the 70-200mk2.

it took me a while to be able to get good ones at 1.2 any slight thing can throw off focus its one of the challenges of insanely awesome shallow depth of field.
