Sony A7R, Metabones, Rokinon 14mm EF mount, ISO 6400, 1/40s@f8, handheld, cropped. Used the tilting LED monitor to focus.

Canons to the left, Canons to the right,
We hold our L glass toward the light,
Digitizing in a snap reflective glory
That will forever tell our imaged story.

For those of you who are using the A7 and the metabone for Canon EF lenses, can you provide any feedback about the AF performance and if you use AF on the A7 differently than you used to with Canon DSLRs?

Thanks in advance.

I have a ridiculous problem right now. I am somewhere far far away with my A7R, my Macbook Air and my smartphone.

I don't have any SD card reader, and no USB cable, but I really need to transfer a couple of RAW-files to my computer or to my smartphone.

I have tried wifi-transfer to my phone and to my Macbook, but the RAW-files just end up as jpeg-files when I transfer them!.. Please help.

Slower than in liveview on a Canon DSLR. Much slower. Often quicker to manually focus using peaking and magnification.

I'm going to share a bunch of shots from my new job. :) Iron mining at LKAB in Sweden. My position is down at 600 - 1100 meters. Exciting work, well paid and lots of fun!

There is a whole world down there! Hundreds of drivers, engineers, technicians, drillers, blasters - all working hard on 280 miles of tight mining roads and trails. There's even a couple of full-blown restaurants down at 1000m. I really wish I had more time to take pics. :D

Getting the desired dynamic range with my A7R was easy as pie.

Thanks! The temperature is constantly around 16 - 18°C (60 - 64℉) at 600 meters, during both winter and summer! So it is comfortably "cool" during summer, and comfortably "warm" during winter.

Down at 1100 meters the temperature is a bit higher. Around 25ºC, (77℉), and the air is kinda stuffy, so jacket off and AC on! :) I'm a heavy machinery operator, so I always got access to air conditioning.

Ok...I'm seriously considering moving to either the A7 or the A7r from my fuji X-E1 setup. Still undecided between the 2. My main focus with photography is landscape which makes me lean toward the A7r but I'm happy with how the files from my 5d2 printed so the A7 may be enough for my needs. The main reason I'm considering moving from Fuji is overall IQ. Not that the Fuji is bad but I have to jump through a lot of hoops to get the IQ I want for a final print with it. I've sold all my canon gear but I've still been going through files from my 5d2 and printing them and at 16x24 or larger it still looks better with much less work. The fuji also does some weird stuff with certain colors that I've never gotten used to. I'm sold on mirrorless and have no desire to go back to a heavy full frame body so that's why I'm leaning to the Sony. My biggest concern is lens. What is the best option for wide angle on the sony? Also for medium telephoto? That's the one thing making me question leaving fuji.....the fuji lens are great. Especially the 14mm.

you can use just about anything on the sony, zeiss 21, nikon 14-24, canon 16-35F4IS, 17TSE. Same can be said about telephoto, but autofocus is borderline useless with any adapted system. Thankfully, focus peaking is really good, and I can really nail pretty much any slowish type shots, and some mild action.

probably the biggest thing going for the sony is that amount of lenses it can take. literally decades worth of lenses can go into the sony system.
