Not a huge surprise. Maybe this will help boost used prices. It's still a great sports camera for those on a budget.

Hopefully the new 7D will be ground breaking, but if it is then it's also possible it will come with a ground breaking price.

I say at least $2500. Just a wild guess, based on current trends.

It won't be that much, that is too large a difference from the original 7D launch price. I do expect a 20-30% increase over the original launch price though.

I'm glad I was able to get mine lightly used recently for $600. Perhaps the best photography purchase I've made thus far. Still a fantastic camera body despite it being a "Mark I".

Look at all the 7Ds for sale!

Wow. Lots of used 7Ds are all hitting the market at the same time. I guess they're all gearing up for the purchase of the replacement rumored to be out in September. Canon Direct has dropped the refurb price down to $719 - over $200 less than the 70D and just about $200 more than the T2i. Canon must really want to get rid of them before the replacement comes out. What an incredible time to upgrade from a rebel or buy a backup camera!

Yes, not too surprising, I suppose.

While upgrading to 70D, perhaps too the 7D Mk II, eventually, I'm otherwise contemplating saving my 7Ds for use with Magic Lantern when it is in absolutely rock solid, non-beta release. In this way, gain new and powerful feature sets for these aged workhorse cameras, extending their value even further.

Heya,

I think it's great. I can't wait to start seeing 7D's maybe hitting the $500~600 area. I might replace my 650D with one for my wildlife setup with my 600mm. Maybe.

Very best,

Slight change of subject (just a quick one, honest) is your 600 a vs 1 or 2? Contemplating chopping in my 500 for one but the version 1 weight puts me off a bit!
