Apparently the Nikon mount is unable to support f1.2 lenses. In the interest of designing Sigma lenses that can support multiple lens mounts, I can see why Sigma would never release an f1.2 lens.

That said, having owned several f1.2 lenses, the difference between f1.4 and f1.2 is negligible. People get more caught up in the f number, than the actual real world impact. I'll take an optically superior, yet cheaper, 1.4 lens over an f1.2 lens any day of the week.

My thoughts exactly.

For you it matters, but it doesn't for me, and i will expect it will be large anyway, sometimes you can't have everything at once, so i can sacrifice weight and size for performance as f/1.2 and fast AF if possible.

If anything I hope they make an FE/A mount over 1.2. The 1.2 is over-hyped of the 85L to begin with. Give me tack sharp at 1.4 and im a happy camper. The iso performance of these cameras are good enough as it is. If you need to just down size the image file.

Yeah the a7R is fantastic on crops...this crop has been cropped 2.35:1

Well then! Nice one David!

True, true. In fact, this image hasn't been cropped at all. I kinda liked the small golden butterfly amongst the greens and purples,

Thanks David.

Very nice image none the less :)

True, there are many choices already with f1.4 or 85mm, and i really want to buy any lens that has f1.2 or even faster than that, doesn't matter if it is 85 or not, but you know that Canon ones is very expensive already and not sure if it worth it, same with 50mm 1.2L, not sure if Sigma 50mm Art is way better than that.

For now, i think about more important lens i need to use for something, for me 400mm or 600mm will be more useful even if i don't shoot wildlife and birds than getting 85mm f1.2 as i have 70-200 mkII and 135L and i can buy Sigma 50mm Art or 85mm, so i prefer to buy a lens that i don't have coverage than getting a lens that i have covered already even not very fast, i already have Canon 85mm 1.8, so i don't want to buy 85mm f1.4 any soon even if it is Sigma Art version, but if Sigma can produce one with f1.2 at say almost half the price of that Canon one then i am all in.

Nice work Chris. The first one has a dreamy look to it. Was it windy? I only ask due to what looks like blur in the grass.

Thanks Omar. It wasn't too windy, but it was an 87 second exposure, so there was a little movement there.

^ Beautiful Chris. You make me pine for the EF 16-35mm f/4L IS USM. :)

In your experience does the lens vignette badly with standard screw-in CPL and ND filters?

I'm still having trouble deciding on which to get first 16-35F4IS or A7r. Been really close to getting the A7r, but the 16-35 is so damn good (helps that I have both right now). I want to wait till photokina comes around to see if sony's 16-35 can hold a candle to Canon's offering. The practical side in me says to get the lens first since they hold prices well, and just wait till the A7r's prices tumble some more.... on the lusting side, I want the mitakon 50mm F0.95. Bokeh is a little bit better than the 50 1.2, and generally love the images it can produce.

Never like the A7S? if you don't need the 36mp, the loud shutter of the A7R can be annoying.

depends on what you shoot though and the max size you're printing.

i think the only advantage of A7R now versus the A7S is the cropping power and details you can get from 36mp.

It's been decided that I want my max print to be...... very big, bigger than what a single image can provide. I'm going to make an effort to have a lot of high quality stitches if possible. I may even try to recreate a lot of shots in an effort to have a very high quality catalog. Just a personal thing.

A7s, just not enough pixels. Pretty sure the canon 16-35 would out resolve that sensor, and I'de want to push it to the limits.
