No problems with mine. I really like it. It is soft wide open, Sharp at 2.8 and razor sharp at f4. AF is awesome, very quick and accurate like most USM lenses.

Canon 6D. Canon T5i. Canon 24-105 f4L. Canon 70-200 f4L IS. Sigma 17-50 2.8. Tamron 28-75 2.8. Canon 18-55 STM.

Never liked the Canon 1.4s that I have bought in the past. I have been very happy with the Sigma, but only after I sent it in for them to recalibrate it, then I MFA'd it.

I did a review between that lens and the Canon 50 1.4 (in my signature), and the bokeh also was less than desirable from the Canon. Of course bokeh is a matter of taste, but in my situation, it wasn't good.

Wide open, the sigma is very sharp.

My Canon 50mm f/1.4 is so good that it prevents me from buying the Sigma ART lens :)

To be fair, you received a ton of warnings about this lens prior to you buying it.

;)

Very best,

Haha yes. Stubborn amateur here..But what are the chances I would get all the issues on this lens? Lol....

I wanted a small walk around lens but I don't think this would be very good due to the reasons everyone pointed out. I think I finally AFMA it but still lost confidence in it.

Had 2 copies of the canon 50 1.4 and the auto focusing keeps failing. Went with the sigma 50 1.4 non-art although the IQ is much superior compare to the canon the AF is inconsistent when subject is 10 meters away.

I had the 50 1.4 for about 2 years after having the 50 1.8 II before that. Its a nice little lens, still fragile like the 1.8 but image quality was great. Sharp wide open for what it is but focus wasnt always the best. In terms of colors and contrast (and bokeh) the lens did leave alot to be desired so since 50mm was my favorite focal length, I got the 50L this year and have been nothing but happy with it. Its glued to my body and images out of it always excite me. The 50 1.4 is flat compared to the 50L's color and contrast.

Canon EF 40 F2.8 STM
Sigma 50 F1.4 (non-ART for saving $)

Now I feel inferior lol... Would the sigma 35A be as sharp?

Thanks for posting some sample pics. May I ask at what distance did you shoot at, and what sharpening, noise reduction etc did you apply? Did you use flash? Thanks

She was about 4-5' in front of me, no flash, and just an USM run.
