I have the sammy and 16-35, and dont think it will replace the sammy either. sammy is WIDE, feels considerably wider. I really like the sam 14, but the starbursts are UGLY, and it cant do 100mm filters, which is a huge issue for me.

I have the Canon 14mm... it's quite massively wider than 16mm. And it's sharper than the 16-35mm f4 and f2.8.

No doubt the 14ii is an excellent lens but it's not any sharper (external link) than the 16-35 f4.

There also seems to be less CA on the 16-35 than the $2300 14mm too. Plus I'm not sure about "massively" wider either. *smh

Haha! Sirui and all? I suspect the 6D and new 16-35 is going to be very popular, or with the a7r... I'm debating hard about selling the 6D and picking one up since I don't do anything that requires serious AF speed, and I would favor the smaller package... oh gear is like a disease!

I have both of these fine lenses...the 14mm and the 16-35mm. The 14 is for sale.

hey, uh, I have both the 6D and A7r :D

can you tell me about this disease, I need treatment.

the 6D will be my "sports camera", though some might find it funny. It's sensor is still pretty good and low light ability is much better than the sony.

Referring to an earlier post I made bemoaning the fact that UK prices were a tad unrealistic, I've now see HDEW have the 16-35 f4 at £769.. just a touch better than the £1200 elsewhere.

No connection other than a happy customer.

the sharpness is probably negligible. The 16-35 is a stud, even all the way to the wee wee corners. Pretty sure it beats both the 14 samyang and canon 14, but that's a minor point. It's much more flexible than a samyang 14 and canon 14 since it can take filters, normal size nodal rail will work fine, very resistant to flare, where I know the samyang has failed on occasion in that regards.

essentially, this zoom is a 16mm F4, 20mm F4, 24mm F4, 35mm F4 prime all wrapped into one. Corners arent perfect wide open, but still very very good. Stopped down, dare I say this lens might outresolve my 6D. Works extremely well with the A7r, great combo.
