I'm thinking the first shot would have been better (fiance's shot), assuming you had a tripod.

I partly agree with you, would have certainly been easier to avoid all the spray! I was pleasantly surprised when she showed me the photo later on :D Although part of my thinking was that I wanted water flowing from the top to the bottom of the shot.

Very nice place indeed. Great little hike to break up the drive out to the coast. The small creek below the falls would have made a great long exposure shot. I left my camera up top when I walked down to the base. Next time I guess! The lava fields are sweet too!!

I wish I hadn't spent so much time photographing the large waterfall and did a few exposures of the creek and streams running off near the bottom... like you said, next time I guess! The lava fields are awesome, I assume you drove near Sisters and so the vast lava fields?

Yeah, we went through Bend --> Mckenzie pass --> the coast. There are a couple shots of my kidos in the lava fields on my flickr is you wish to check them out. No "set up/final" type shots or I'd share here! ;)

Heya,

Camera, tripod, intervalometer, and an early, early start to the day before the sun is even up.

Heya,

I usually am using the Lee Big Stopper and a 3 stop soft edge graduated filter by hi-tech. I'm looking for a new way to do it though, as I'm finding I need 6 stops for the sky when I'm usually doing a single exposure.

Those above exposures are actually blends of 3 exposures.

Here is an image from the setup above that is a single exposure with the filters:

11mm, F5.6, ISO 100, 300 seconds (5 minutes) with the Lee Big Stopper:
