I like these! #5 looks like it might have some kind of halo around the front of the car? looks like it could also just be the environment its in. What sharpening method did you use? these are CRISP!

Thanks, yeah I saw that too. I think directly in front it is a bit lighter.

As for sharpening I didn't use anything to sharpen, I don'e even think I ran an unsharp mask on this set. I suppose it's just all the contrast

To a newb like me it appears you did some light painting or layer masking of individual shots to get the even exposure on the car, am I correct? I see a lot of lights in the area so I'm just curious how the light is so even over the whole car.

I did a bit of light painting on all of these. The even exposure is due to the 6 second shutter and me walking around with a light source. Sometimes I use some of the ambient to help me but it's always best to try and light paint the whole car.

Gotcha, I like the shots a lot. You've done a great job with them and they are incredibly sharp like mentioned before. Going to give you a follow on Flickr for inspiration as I practice more.

Great series!

If I may ask what could be a stupid question: do you light paint with constant lighting or with a self-triggered flash/strobe?

You light paint with a long exposure and a constant light. Strobes can be used for lighting certain parts of the car and put together in the final composite.
