Just sold 5DII and a couple of lenses to a good friend of mine. Enough to fund for A7R, Metabones MkIV and some accessories (extra battery, external charger, remote release, L-Plate - all essential for proposed architectural/interior/landscape use).
Question:
How does FE 55 f/1.8ZA compare to EF mount Sigma 50 Art? I suppose former wins on AF performance but since I continue to own 5DIII, it would be nice to have lens(es) that can be used by both bodies. On the other hand, appropriating A7R for general use by taking advantage of its compactness is appealing too - and that would work better with dedicated Sony lenses. Decisions, decisions...
I think you'de be best to keep your current canon lenses for a bit before going two feet deep into sony lenses. 50mm is a bread and butter people lens. I'm pretty much in the same boat, with different 50's, but after doing some tests, the canon really seems to do a considerably better job with skin tones at higher iso's, even after corrected white balance.
if you're ok with it, then certainly jump to the native lens, but it wont hurt to try it out first.
