I am curious, are you using standard C.Fn II Autofocus settings or have you gone more aggressive when using this particular lens? I keep tweaking the Sensitivity, Accel/decel, and the image priorities but can never find a happy medium - but I also am not doing any BIF either since my children are way too erratic to use them as my test subjects lol.

To be honest I've only had the camera a few weeks and I haven't played with the custom functions for auto-focus yet. I was using zone focus for the first time (usually single point) and it did great for tracking. I did find that the lens had a tough time keeping up when the birds were flying right towards me, so may play around and see if it helps. It's not the quickest focusing lens in the world, but I've found it to be very accurate.

Hawk right after trying to make a raid on the bird feeder in the backyard. Took this photo sneaking around the corner of the shop and shooting the photo before the hawk took off. I'm no expert on identifying hawks, but using the field guide, I believe this is a juvenile Cooper's Hawk.

But, to get at what I think you mean, most users don't have any issues. Of course, you also have to have realistic expectations. Certain situations and focus subjects lend themselves to better AF than others.

Some from the weekend. I get cool angles, but shooting through the windows at this highrise makes for some funky color cast and sharpness loss...

Nice work mate, especially on something that small, very impressive.

They look almost surprised to see you looking at them, not used to being seen ..

And thanks for the comp. :)

I actually really like #2. "Abstract" macro like that really appeals to me.
