Lens Rebates: 40mm pancake

So I purchased a 40mm pancake lens the other day from best buy, in which I was able to get it for $149 when in fact the store was supposed to increase the price to $200 and Canon provides a $50 mail in rebate.

The store honored the listed price, so would I be able to receive the rebate from Canon? The date of purchase is in line with Canon's rules, but I also have to send in my receipt. Anyone have any input on this situation?

I'm glad I was able to get it for $150, and yes I would much rather have the rebate as well to knock the price down to $100. Not sure why Canon went with this rebate but the 40mm has been priced at $150 forever..

Here is a link to the pdf form for the rebate

Not sure what you're asking. But the easiest way is to fill it out online (external link). Then mail the online form with all the necessary stuff.

I am wondering whether or not the rebate will be honored. The correct price for the lens in store is supposed to be $200, and then you mail in the rebate to get $50 back.

I was able to get the lens for $150. Will I be able to get the rebate as well?

Assuming it was purchased from an authorized reseller, yes canon will honor a rebate on a "double dip" item.

You will get the rebate.

Canon stipulate they will give you a rebate if you buy a lens from an authorised dealer and between the offer dates, they do not say how much you should pay for it in the first place.

I got the UK rebate on a 17-40 which are selling for £300 less then canons recommended retail price.

Ok, I appreciate the insight. Although one thing I am still a little concerned about is in the instructions it says to circle the purchase price for easy locating on the sales receipt..

Visit this link for the current rebates that are going on:

If you've purchased any within the time frame given on that pdf file, you should be eligible.

Really? Circle the price you paid and send in the stupid receipt. they don't want to have to sort through 50 items on a receipt and want you to make it easy for them. They don't care that you paid $200, or $300, or $400, or $150.

Agreed. We've never heard of a case where Canon has rejected a mail-in rebate due to purchase price. Just ensure you follow all other rules (including date of purchase and submission requirements).
