Every week we select a new theme, and then go out and shoot that theme. This weeks the theme is Wildlife. As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.

Show us some Wildlife! :p

Here are the rules:
1. Shots need to be taken between Monday posting and the following Monday by Sunset (Whenever that is for you ). Because this activity is supposed to encourage us to get out and shoot, please don't post old shots from your archives. Snapshots and art are equally welcome -- just get out & shoot, and then share!
2. Post your shots at any time during the week.
3. Post a maximum of two shots if you're uploading them to POTN (i.e., attaching them). You can post more than two if you're linking to shots that are not hosted by POTN (i.e. embedding them), but keep within POTN rules. Also keep within POTN rules about size. A copy of the size rules can be found here: IMAGE POSTING RULES
That's it! Have fun! As always be as imaginative/creative as you like when interpreting the theme, creativity is what we're looking for.
An index to previous weeks can be found here: POTN WORLDWIDE PHOTO WEEK INDEX

That's it! Have fun!

I took this 10 minutes ago. I don't know how 'wild' she is, but she looked a bit cross as I disturbed her breakfast!

I think Ricardo is a bird whisperer. Also a sea whisperer and a cloud whisperer.

PRONOUN ADVISORY: OhLook is a she. | A FEW CORRECT SPELLINGS: lens, aperture, amateur, hobbyist, per se, raccoon, whoa | Comments welcome

Thank you all very much for the lovely comments.

Terry, I suspect your warning is apt...she was giving me very peculiar looks!

John...:D

OhLook...Thank you. (But I get so many failures that I suspect I'm more of a "mutterer" than a whisperer!)

Being urban, the wildlife I'm likely to meet this week will be small and not unusual. Here are two creatures from today. First, a wary fox squirrel in the neighbors' avocado tree.

Then a Common Hairstreak on flowers in our yard, with a bonus bee.

Charming flutterby OhLook...and that's a neat looking squirrel. We don't have anything like that here...I always liked the idea of having squirrels about.

John, they say that roaches are survivors...I guess that one has a wet-suit!

Thanks. They pick the fruit before it's ripe and gnaw at it. We find the discarded part, usually most of an avocado, on the ground. Sometimes they bury avocados in the soft composting plant material in half wine barrels where I plant potatoes. It's easy to dig there. I think squirrels would eat more avocado if they let it ripen, but I can't make them wait.

John_B: That didn't look like a cockroach at all. Then I noticed that it was an American c.r., not the German c.r. that's a household pest. Pretty shot!

Stina, thanks, and I'm looking forward to the large animals that roam around your place.
