My Metabones adaptor just arrived!

Here's a quick test shot with the 24-70mm II 2.8 on the a7R.'

A 100% crop... the 24-70mm II appears to live up to it's reputation, and provides ample resolution for the 36MP sensor. Also note this is wide open at 2.8, it gets even better.

VINZ - great 70-200 shots.

5d3 is much better than the 6D for focus. For portraits the A7r is pretty fast with the FE lens that I have (35 & 55). Much slower with the La-Ea4 and the SAL85 2.8 I just purchased (in a studio with a reasonable amount of ambient light but great outside).

Need your opinions folks. I have now sold my XT1 and the plan was to purchase the 16-35 f/4 ( I would sell the 17-40 afterwards).

Then someone on here brought it to my attention that there was an FE version coming, possibly at photokina.

I have found the 16-35 f/4 for £769 brand new. Im unsure if the FE version would be any cheaper and also unsure if it would be any smaller or lighter??

Help me decide - Go for the Canon lens or hold out for the FE in the hope its as good, same price, lighter and smaller?

(I kinda like the idea of the canon lens with the thought that I may get another canon body down the line in years to come (but maybe not if the sony fulfils my needs))

Personally Im holding out for Photokina. I want the FE 16-35 so will wait. Mind you i am going to italy in three weeks and will take the Canon 16-35 f/2.8 with me. But i really want a small native wide zoom for the A7r.

The best advice i can give you is, just wait, if that FE version is cheaper or lighter or better then this is the answer, if not then you can always buy Canon 16-35 f4 and maybe the price will get slightly cheaper, or you may find deals later, don't rush, you may buy Canon 16-35 now and then later you will regret it because of Sony FE version is nicer/better somehow [In price or weight]

Also i keep coming back and forth a lot on Sony SSA 16-35 f2.8 even it is mount A, because i use manual a lot nowadays and i will use it for landscapes and cityscapes where i don't need fasr AF at all, i always like or prefer faster lenses in aperture [f2.8 or faster], so what is this new 16-35 f4 do for me if i don't go for faster AF? and i think the quality is good enough, but i can hold my Canon f2.8 lens longer and i may go with f4 if i don't use f2.8 much in some situations.

Good advice guys. Probably waiting for a few weeks is best. Ive lost too much money this year already from selling lenses I bought in haste
