That's what I meant. To tell you where you are when you take the photos.

But the places where you have no idea where you are when taking a photo also tend to be the places where you can't easily charge camera batteries. And GPS functions on any device tend to be power hogs.

The actual power consumption per hour is quite low for the GPS. So it's more a question of how many hours you need to have the GPS active.

If it draws 40mA at 3V then it draws about 20mA from the batteries. Isn't an LP-E6 1800mAh? So the GPS itself would run for 90 hours on one battery. Or consume 10% if shooting for 9 hours. And that is assuming that it's a rather hungry GPS and run at highest power mode all the time. Unless the Canon team did something badly, it should manage way better than that. Way, way better!

The camera "everyone" has been dreaming about for a couple of years now.

Maybe, just maybe, we will see such a beast in real life within the next 1-36 months.

I'm 90% sure NOT everyone has been dreaming about it.

Why is everyone drooling over a crop sensor?

There is not much difference between a crop and a full frame sensor. I have both and shoot with both.

Pixel density and affordable high frame rate. It's roughly 1.6X the density of a 5DIII, and 80% more frames per second at the rumored specs.

Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!

I'm 90% certain that when it is finally released there will be a thread slagging it off.
I'm also 90% certain that when it is finally released there will be a thread praising it as the best thing since sliced bread.

There it is...that is exactly the camera I've been dreaming of. :) What a shame that Canon won't make us a dream camera. ;)
