Hasselblad has a new one, appears to be a Sony SLT-A99 with the Hasselblad name on it. Comes with a Zeiss 24-70 lens.

Read more about it here...I think I have to go to the bathroom. ;)

I was hoping they were releasing a budget MF body to compete with the 645Z

Cows will come home before that happens :D

IMO, Hassleblad will not put something under 10K on the market. It's just impossible. It's like expecting a new Ferrari under 100K.

I never understood why so many people on here use car comparison with cameras, and this is from someone who comes from a Hot Rodding/Muscle car background. Had 2 articles published before I was even 18.(PHR and Carcraft) Was even sponsored by K&N for a while.

Miss working on cars sometimes.

In this case I think that the comparison is justified. Both Hasselblad and Ferrari produce high end products in their respective industries. Consumers place quality (rightly or unrightly so) in direct correlation with price. If Hasselblad or Ferrari were to release a product with a MSRP lower than their respective industry standards, from a consumer standpoint, their name would likely be tarnished.

That being said, people also draw comparisons between objects they are most familiar with. Cars have a special place in these comparisons, since a Ferrari, Lamborghini, or any other valuable vehicle has been a common sign of luxury and a person's wealth since the early 20th century. People often make comparisons to things that seem personally unobtainable in order to demonstrate their point. Put bluntly, we humans like to exaggerate. :D

In response to the information in the OP. Yes, it is expensive, but you are also pairing two of the highest end companies together in one package. Take away the Zeiss lens and you've got a camera in the $9,500 range. Am I trying to justifying the price? Hell no. But it does make it a bit more comparable to the original MSRP of the Canon 1Ds mark III's $11,999.99 price tag.

Just my 2c.

Ok? Let's just start a topic on cars then, eh? I can start bragging too but I'd rather not...

So sad for the brand. One would think there would be some learning from history when premium companies do an obvious rebranding of a lower end product.

If Ferrari released a car that was simply a Fiat Panda with a Ferrari badge at a much higher price, their name would likely be tarnished.

With its advanced PVD finish frame, contrasting coloured camera body, and extended titanium controls, this is not just another black camera.

This is a Sony A mount 24MP camera? Who knew we needed contrasting "coloured" body with titanium knobs?

Meh, just consider it a fashion accessory, like a Louis Vuitton handbag.

Someone who knows nothing about dSLRs is going to buy this...
