I thought that was the mystical Canon 3D ;)

I'm 100% sure that doesn't exist.

The camera "everyone" has been dreaming about for a couple of years now.

Maybe, just maybe, we will see such a beast in real life within the next 1-36 months.

just wondering because I havent seen one ,yet there are 20 threads about it. maybe Big Foot is testing it out.

While a DSLR may suffer from rolling shutter disease, there really are no reasons why a new DSLR shouldn't be able to record 4k video, managing at least 24fps, 25fps, 30fps. Possibly even 60fps.

I don't agree with a minimum of 24 or 25fps. I wouldn't even bother putting that standard in this camera. I really believe the minimum should be 30fps. 4K video @ 60fps would be great and would be a nice option for a camera that only gets updated every 5 years (if that is going to be the trend).

I meant a minimum to have 24fps, 25fps and 30fps. But preferably also 60fps (and 48fps + 50fps).

Remember that not all countries do their video at 30fps. Canon have already failed earlier when they released the 5D2 with only 30p video. People had to hit them really hard before they realized that the PAL world wanted 25p and that traditional movies have used 24p (minus a tiny fraction).

And movies are now beginning to use 48fps, while the PAL world got TV receivers moving from 50Hz interlaced to directly playing 50p and internally often using 100p or 200p.

Okay, I understand what you mean now. Yeah, the versatility would be nice.

Also, thanks for the free education, I didn't know movies were beginning to use 48fps. So I am guessing that in the future, 48fps will also be a standard option? I"m perfectly okay with that. The more fps the better. :)

If the 7dMkII has 4k at a max of 30fps or 60fps, I think it would be cool if it also had 1080p @120fps+. I could see that being useful for slow motion action shots etc..

I just worked on a TV show trialling 4K 50fps here in the UK (and they did everything over IP!! that's some big pipe for the data)

Call me Amanda please :)

For a person that does mostly portraits, don't you guys think getting a full-frame like the 6D or 5D mk3 would make more sense then the 7d mk2?

I have an old (I think its old by now :p ) 60D and feel the need to replace it. :p
I imagine a full-frame and my crop would complement each other pretty well as I don't plan to get rid of my current camera ...

Camera - 2x5Dmk3, C100 mkii, 70D, 60D
Lenses - 24-70mm f2.8L II, 70-200mm f2.8L IS ii, 85mm f1.2L II, 35mm f1.4 ART, 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS
Lighting - 3 x 600EX RT's, Printer - Epson 3880

Yes, and since you don't need super fast AF or FPS for portraits, a 6D would likely serve you just as well as the more expensive FF options.

There it is...that is exactly the camera I've been dreaming of. :) What a shame that Canon won't make us a dream camera. ;)

Good to see one person in here who knows the history of the unicorn Canon 3D on this forum  !

+1.

The 6D is the affordable portrait camera. High FPS, pixel density, and AF speed is useless for portraits, and the 6D doesn't offer any of those.

I was expecting to be bummed at the 7DII, making my 7D seem rather feeble, but if the specs are as posted I won't be too bothered. If the sensor is a bit better (which should at least be the case), then the features I'd most like are GPS (but can't live without it), 1080p at 60fps (which would be great), and the video focusing. Hopefully less of a steep aliasing filter too.

Would've also liked Wifi, but everything else is, well, slightly better but not game changing.

With the rumoured specs, the sensor would have to be *amazing* to really make people sit up and take notice... should be interesting. You never know, the specs may be wrong, and instead of a limp 7DII, we get an amazing next gen "7DX"...

7D, 450D | 17-55, 10-22, 55-250, 50 1.8, 580EXII | YN568II | YN622 x3 | Magic Lantern | (Still) Jonesing for a 70-200 2.8...
Turns out a gripped 7D + 622 + 580exII + 70-200 2.8 IS MK2 is BLOODY HEAVY! Who knew?!!

It's only a rumor. :p

Not just the WIFI. The entire camera is a rumor.

Hey, hey @Geokras1989 hey, we get it, we get that this is the rumour section, we get it. What I don't get is why people that have these issues with rumours keep posting in the freaking rumour section ?
