wellllll... ditched my 5D2 and picked up an A7r. using a $25 full manual fotodiox adapter for now, which will work perfectly with my rokinon, but if i want to change apertures with my canon lenses, i'll need something like the Metabones. it took a lot of fiddling to figure out as the manual is crap. i had focus peaking set to high and figured i was good to go. wrong. everything was out of focus. finally figured out how to turn on magnification and focus is all good again.

this was with the 24-105L

Experimenting with the Sony a7R + Canon 24-70mm Mark II.

The 24-70mm II is my favourite lens, it's high contrast and super sharp. So I am quite interested to see how it does on the a7R as it out resolves my 5D Mark III.

Interesting. I like this shot. I just wished you would have place the city a little lower in the frame bringing in more sky. :)

Nice one cozmo. I use a Kaavie branded adaptor which was £70 and it gives me AF (slow with this adaptor and also slow with metabones on EF lenses) and also gives me IS on stabilised lenses and also has all the exif data etc. Would definately recommend it as the metabones is very expensive.

This is the one I got - http://www.amazon.co.uk …r2&keywords=kaavie+nex+ef (external link)

Sometimes branded viltrox II sometimes Kaavie

Great photo of Sydney skyline.
I also have a Kaavie adapter, but while you wait for the AF to work (on some lenses) its quicker to use MF.

Good news for the holdouts:
Zeiss 16-35 f/4
1350 Euro
Scheduled availability: end of October

Perhaps in time for Halloween or catch some late foliage.

That is really good news. I just hope the quality is in line with the 55mm prime. I REALLY was hoping they'd come out with an E-mount version of the 21mm f/2.8 T* Distagon instead of a wide zoom. Oh well, it's certainly better than nothing.

The price is higher than I was expecting, that equates to £1075 so £300 more than I paid for the 16-35 f/4. Don't feel as bad for making the jump early now, however if it turns out to be a stellar lens and lighter etc I may be forced to upgrade :)

I was running out of light and didn't have time to get in a position to get an ideal composition, I consider it a test shot. :)

I'm in the same boat. I have no regrets picking up the EF version early. I've got some great images already that I would have missed with the FE mount :)

If the IQ on the 16-35 f/4 FE mount is anywhere near as impressive as the EF version, and if it is smaller and lighter, then I will gladly sell the EF version for a $300 loss (about half of that is taxes vmad ), I'm just happy that I can afford it ;)
