So is there a trick to putting on and taking off the lens hood, or is it just a perpetual struggle?

No struggle. Sometimes it can stick but mostly I find my replacement foot is getting in the way more than anything.

Maybe I just need practice. I find there's just enough resistance to it sliding over the rim, when I push down on one side the other pops off. I think I've done it, tighten the screw then realise it's on wonky!

My first picture to share. My stalking of hares failed, so it's that good old reliable subject, the mute swan.

Keep em coming, nice swan and I find my 2x on the 500 not so great. So here are a few without TCs :)

Thanks man. Great lens for travel, not heavy like the 400 and 600 options.

This is a shot you can sell and make a lot of money on. Good luck! It's perfect!
