It won't be 7d mkII, but 7Dx. And price will be 2x higher than the previous one.

Don't ask for my sources, this is a rumor forum!

and then right after the time being .... further price collapse

That's true of any body ever made though. I agree 500$ is too low for the immediate future, even after the glut that come on the market as people replace theirs with a mark II. At that price, it's the same as a new t5i, it'd be an incredibly hard sell for most to buy a t5i when they could get a 7D for the same price. The market will keep it above that price for sure.

$500 for a 7D is a ridiculous price.
It's still at the top of the APS-C sports/wildlife camera pyramid.

Think new Canon lenses are overpriced? Lots (and lots) of data will set you free!

I love how this thread is from 2012. 2 years later and the prices should account for inflation over the last 2 years, and the minimum advertised prices that have gone into effect.

Also the amount of money that Canon is going to get for giving the National Enquirer the worlds first official pictures of Bigfoot since the latest Canon Rumors blog post says that he is field testing the new 7D II that is going to be presented at Photokina. I even heard from a guy at my local camera store that Bigfoot is going to be a keynote speaker on the 7D II along with an alien that created a crop circle.

Last words before the official announcement:

$1500 if it's using the 70D sensor
$2000 if it's introducing an industry leading sensor <------- MUCH preferred option.

get off your unicorn. with 70D sensor, it still has tons of stuff 70D can only dream off, so its more likely around $1900 with 70D sensor and $2400 with LEADING sensor. we know canon, they price their stuff sky high.

Yeah, I don't see this much south of 2500$ if it's an industry leading sensor. I also really don't get why people hate on the 70D sensor, it's hardly a bad sensor. Regardless, it won't be the 70D's sensor, that much is clear from the specs. How much better it will be is yet to be seen.

Why do you say that?

It had an industry leading sensor in 2009, along with awesome AF and it debuted at $1800.
$2k for today is accounting for inflation, exchange rates and lower expected volumes since the dSLR bubble is deflating worldwide.

Was it industry leading APS-C back then? I don't remember. Still, it debuted with the 1D4, which had better AF. This time around, the 7DII (on paper) has better AF than 1DX and newer, Digic6 processors. People are craving for a 7D replacement and Canon knows that and they will price it accordingly in my opinion. It will still be industry leading APS-C sports camera.

Yup. It doesn't need an "industry-leading" sensor to be an industry-leading camera.

What specs have you read that say it's NOT the 70D sensor?

If you have been reading is thread for the last 2 years, all virtually EVERYONE has been saying is that they won't buy a 7D II unless it has a new sensor that doesn't have pattern noise in the shadows at ISO 100, that Canon will not sell the 7D II if it reused sensor technology, and that Canon will be making a terrible mistake if they don't come up with new sensor tech because they're falling so far behind Nikon AND Sony in the quality of the dynamic range at low ISO 100 in the shadows.
