I bought the hadley large. Did not like the buckle design to get in and out of the bag. Looking for an alternative. My hadley pro feels tiny with a 70-200 inside.

Was this the new Hadley Large Pro? The older Hadley Large (non-Pro) has the same quick release tabs as the smaller Hadley Pro, but doesn't have the top handle.

If you do have the hadley large pro. Pictures of the bag would be appreciated.

I already returned it. Its on B and H photo.
Bag looks great, larger then expected. need something in between the large pro and the hadley pro

The original Hadley Large works well with the larger zooms, and still maintains a fairly thin profile to hug your hip and keep the weight close to center. I sure wish they would add a top handle somehow without changing the design, but the anticipated equipment weight is probably too much for one (thus the new design of the PRO version).

I figured out what model that bag is based on. Good to know now.

Seriously where are the updates? Anyone with Hadley Pro and the Avea 5 or 3 pockets on the sides. If so can you post some pictures. My Hadley pro is stuffed with the 70-200 in there esp since I mount my strap on the base of the 70-200 and not the body.

I wish I could help you. I have used various LowePro pockets I own. They look trashy but work if I need them.
My back has been bothering me. I haven't used my HadleyPro in quite a while

I haven't enjoyed micro 43 photography so much, and am using my D300S where speed and quality are involved

one m43body is gone. Oly E-PM2 sale made a Sony RX100 easier to buy

my Hadley Digital is getting far more use!

I'm getting ready to join the Billingham club by pulling the triggers on a Hadley Large from B&H. The site recommended the SP20 shoulder pad, but from reading this thread and another from this forum it seemed the correct shoulder pad for the Hadley Large is SP40 so I will make this adjustment before ordering. I've ordered from B&H for years but some of these sales guy are questionable at times. Are they lazy or not very knowledgeable?

I think the recommendation B&H give is more based on what people bought along with the bag more than just their personal experience.
Don't forget they are a huge store. They can't test each and every bag they have

The SP20 is a bit wider (by about 0.5 inch) than the strap, and it can be used on the hadley large, and if some people prefer a more wider shoulder pad than the SP15 or SP40 one, it might be what B&H are also recommending automatically on their site.
But basically any automatic recommendation should be taken with a grain of salt

Thanks, I would much prefer the precise fit of the SP40 then how it might look with the wider SP20 which I can see will shift around more easily. Good point on the automatic recommendation from the BH site, however, I contacted a sales person via the chat function and specifically asked him this. No biggie, I have it figured out so there will be no headaches of swapping later.

I have the hadley large.
I can put inside both the rmbp 13 and the rmbp 15 (of course not at the same time ).

It does have a slimmer profile, but for example I can put 5D3+24-70, 70-200 and 135 inside as well as the laptop and assortment of extra items at the front pockets. This is my go-to gear when I'm not going with my motorcycle when I need to use a backpack.

It does not feel too bulk or stuffed inside and squeezed to me.

I assume you are referring to the original Hadley Large, not the new PRO model.

There isn't a dedicated laptop compartment in the Hadley Large, so any computer would have to slip in-between the padded insert and the bag outer shell. This means there would be no padding to protect the laptop from the outside, and it would be against your hip when walking which probably wouldn't be very comfortable.

I just tried putting an older 15" MacBook Pro into mine, and it wouldn't fit. The bag is too narrow by about 1/4 to 1/2 inch. You might get it to stretch around the laptop, but it would be difficult to get it in and out. I had my bag pretty well loaded when I tried with a 5D3 and all three of the f/2.8 standard zooms (16-35, 24-70, and 70-200).

There are better choices from Billingham for large laptop access with a full load of photo gear.

If its the retina version, yes, it will fit between the back of the camera compartment and the outer shell, unless your bag is stuffed up to its nose, in which case I wouldn't recommend it. I can put my rMBP 15 inside along with the 5D3+24-70 and 2 mother lenses, power adapter and assortment of stuff at the front pockets.

If its the old MBP, than no, it won't fit well.

Would you recommend the Hadley Large for carrying a macbook together with camera gear? Or would something like the Ona Union Street be a better solution?
