Of course all these are not "necessary", that's why they're called "wants".
Canon can spend $3 to add a wifi module like a billion smartphones already do.
It's not only a smart move, it makes Canon a bit more competitive and "future-proof".
Whether you like it or not, it's the future.
If you don't like it, don't use it.
It is no different than anything else with different model lines, they all off upgrades or feature packages that you pay for. Canon markets their cameras much like vehicles, if you want a feature set, you have to buy the upgraded model, whatever that is. Whether you like it or not, that is way the market works today in many areas.
We have been down this road of discussions in the past about new models and their announcements, this is no different. This camera will sell very well, those that want a better build and better AF system with more FPS will buy the 7D2 over the 70D. If the ISO performance is better than the 70D, that will solidify those sales. I just wait for the reviews to see how well this system works out. I am disappointed over lack of wifi, but I can make due, I am a bit more concerned about how the resolution is nothing more than what the 70D had, and that wasn't even much a bump over the 5 year old 7D classic. I doubt that the ISO will be that much better either if there was no sensor changes. Those 2 things will cause me some pause. I will just spend $500-700 more and go back to a 1D4 probably.
