Please correct me if I'm out-of-line!

Patience paid off, he landed on my old fence post on my lawn. Usually he's at the top of the electric light pole. I believe it is an immature male.

Partial shade, partial sun equals mediocre images!

Thanks Jeff. I first saw this one in August, though I have seen the drill marks in the trees before that are a tell tale sign.

Congrats and well done Sandy.

Thanks John. I know they don't generally visit feeders, so I was thrilled when he flew down from the pole while I was outside.

Very handy captures of this elusive one Sandy, and I believe you're correct about the gender and age.
Your 1st image is quite nice considering the lighting was not really in your favor. You still managed excellent detail on the shady side of the bird. I had to look twice at the 2nd image to find the bird.....he's indeed waaay up there! :)
Now I'd be most grateful if you could convince him to come visit me this winter.

Thanks, and yes the lighting was ridiculous. Shade and sun rarely works in the same image. He will probably visit you someday, but hopefully not yet!

Thank you Peter and Cheryl. The background was a bit challenging with the fence post shots, mixed shade and sun!
