We are getting a new Canon T5i, and we would like to know a good lens to take pics in small areas, like RVs smaller bathrooms and airplanes etc?

A local camera store said hes got a Sigma 10mm wide angle lens for 519.99. Just wondering if thats a good match for what we want to do?

Thank you very much.

t5i comes with 18-55 lens. Have you tried it?

I would imagine that for the small areas you mention, the wider the better.

If you are ever going to use the camera for other purposes ignore the Sigma 10mm advice. If you are only doing small bathrooms, get a P&S.

I concur - try out the 18-55 first. Find a wider lens once you've determined that 18mm isn't wide enough (though there's the new Canon 10-18 for that).

Ditto^^^. Kit 18 should be fine but if you want wider, while I love my EF 10-22 lens ($450 used) , I would highly recommend the new EF-S 10-18 STM for appx $300 new. Great reviews and cheaper.

Thank you ALL for your input.

We don't have the camera in hands yet, on its way. So we have not been able to test the 18-55 that comes with it. We will as soon as we get it, but with some bathrooms being only 8-10 wide (if that with some) with a depth of min 15ft I can see it being hard to get a good overall pic with the 18mm, but I am no expert like many of you guys and gals. Not too mention, some Lear Jets are narrow as well, so Im thinking we are going to need something smaller. I will look up info on all mentioned.

Again, we appreciate your time.

Thank you!

18mm isn't REALLY all that wide on a T5i. The Canon 10-18 will be $399 AND has IS. 10mm will be ultra wide.

yes, try the 18-55IS and see if it works, if that isn't wide enough look at the Canon 10-18 instead of the Sigma. Keep in mind good interior shots require good lighting, tripod, etc.

The actual price (at Amazon.com) is $299, but you probably would also want a lens hood for about $30.

If you really want ridiculous wide, you could try the Rokinon/Samyang 8mm/3.5 fisheye. It is about $235. If you don't like the fisheye effect, you can get software to "defish" the images.

What yogestee said.
I have that lens EF-S 10-18mm STM on a new Rebel SL1, and for pictures in small spaces it's about as good as it gets, without going to a full-frame camera. I'd steer clear of extreme fisheye lenses unless you try one first and like that effect.

Thank you guys again for all feedback. Turn of events...We actually will be picking up a new Canon 70D tomorrow as well as the Sigma 8-16mm lens. Compared the Canon 10-22 and this Sigma and we like the Sigma better, obviously its a wider lens, so that will work better for the interiors of Airplanes, bathrooms and boats etc...

Cannot wait to get it. Thanks all.
