The first two images are of a bumblebee shot in the late evening that did not care about me and how close I was getting. Was able to grab onto the sunflower it was on, turn it to adjust the angle, etc. and it just kept moving around the flower and feeding. I dragged the shutter to expose for the sky. Tech Specs: Canon 1D Mark III (F14, 1/30, ISO 200) + a Canon MPE-65mm macro lens (@1x) + a diffused MT-24EX. This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held.

The light was fading so I took the magnification and the shutter speed up and just let the background go black. Tech Specs: Canon 1D Mark III (F14, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MPE-65mm macro lens (@2x) + a diffused MT-24EX. This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held.

Different day and subject, early morning. I injected some honey into the flower and waited for the bumblebee to get active. The background is a light blue plexiglass with photo paper behind it. Tech Specs: Canon 1D Mark III (F14, 1/250, ISO 100) + a Canon MPE-65mm macro lens (~1.3x) + a diffused MT-24EX. This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held.

And very oily...
I guess that's what you get on a diet of sunflower. ;)
