Apparently the conversations keep going on in the Rumours section, so probably a good idea to kick things out into here, given that it is up on an official Canon site, I would say this is not so much a rumour anymore. And it is a rather tempting price.

Serious camera for that money. Very impressive feature set borrowed from very expensive 1DX according to dpreview. Not sure how much 1DX goes.

Hmmm... using that price, and comparing the 7D mkII to my 7D, factoring in how much each improvement is worth... carry the one...

Wow, my 7D is worth $1792! Kewl!

I know the 7d mk2 and full-frame cameras are for 2 completely different camera segments but I still wonder if the release of this camera means a 5d Mk4 is not far behind the mountains. ;)

Personally I'm not planning to pick one up on release. My 7D is "good enough" for the time being, but it is going to be very tempting to pick up the 7DII in a few months after reviews start coming in. However what I'm more interested in personally is just how far New In Box 7Ds will drop in the next few months. I almost jumped on one when B&H had their prices slashed heavily, but they weren't shipping to Canada at that price, and retailers up here hadn't dropped by nearly as much.

I could get a lot of use out of a pair of 7Ds for another year or two till the price of the 7DII levels out enough to better match my gear budget. (And I generally prefer to work with a matched pair of cameras if they're filling similar roles. But I would happily work with a pair of 7Ds while having a body or two from the 5D family on hand.)

Too bad it has the exact same sensor as the 70D, which is basically zero upgrade over the five year old 7D.

Hell, the D300s has a better overall sensor rating than the 70D.

Ouch! That hurts, isn't it?

Read again, Canon is talking about a NEW sensor. First reviews don't insist too much on IQ, though.

I'll wait at least until many tests and reviews are published, as Canon forgot to send me one... ;)

Yep very disappointing. If they don't produce a leading sensor next year I am out.

Will have to wait on some real hands on reviews but will probably end up with one. I like the 10 fps for sports and wildlife and the 65 cross sensors so I can pick just the right one
