This time next year we'll see the 1DXII and 5DIV, when Canon will reveal a complete reworking of their sensor technology - smaller fab, on-chip ADC and foveon-style pixels. They'll be announced in a presentation also featuing a 100-400 IS mk II, a 400 f5.6 IS, all given by the Canon CEO riding a unicorn.

thats alright, will my 7D mk2 have enough to capture the unicorn in good detail then? ;)

My prediction for the 5D IV:

1. An "all new" 22.3 MP sensor with mind-blowing 12.2 stops of dynamic range.
2. Amazing high ISO performance - a 1/3 stop improvement over the 5D III.
3. 65 AF Points
4. 1080P video recording - no support for 4K because it's just too darn hard to be state-of-the-art.
5. Built in sippy cup pre-filled with delicious Canon Kool-Aid that makes the $3999 price seem ever so sweet. :)

In all seriousness, it would be really exciting to see an announcement in the first half of 2015. :)

My prediction for the 5D IV, is that I will get this instead of the 5D III

I hope that they announce it soon, even if it does not come out until April 2015. Gives me time to save.

I think the upcoming Mark4 would have an incremental boost in ISO, and MP.. Canon would try to tout video capabilities on the new Mark4. But I think that is it..

Nikon has the film-makers kit with the D810.. so I expect Canon to respond in kind. The good thing is that it will drive market again towards the 5D. I sure hope they don't split memory card formats like CF/SD.. Instead, just make it dual SD instead.

If you want dual SD then wait for the 6D replacement.

Although I hated the idea of a CF/SD combo it's ok as well so long as the WiFi is not built-in.
