I found the Zeiss' autofocus very slow, the Canon locked on and tracked much better so all round the canon wins, yeah!

But seriously, Zeiss is lovely to use and a bit better iq to boot. I wish I could have one for more than a play in the shop, I also wish could buy the Otis line up too. Perhaps when and if I buy a camera that makes MF nice to use...

 If Canon ever got around to releasing a 135L II with slightly improved optics and a four-stop IS, it would be an absolutely killer product: no competition.

One more note about the 135mm on the a7R: I notice with telephotos that the EVF goes a little wierd - a little choppy - because the frame-rate is a bit slow making it a bit jarring to focus. Sometimes I'll throw on a monopod just to reduce the jittery EVF caused by the hand-shake. The shake is not awful. Awful is trying to use the Zeiss 2/135mm in Live View on a 5D III equipped with a Zacuto Z-Finder.

I've noticed similar jerkiness with my Sigma 150 on my A7r. Thought it was just me at the time

finally some new FE lenses.
24-240mm would be interesting if reviews are good other than that, the FE 16-35 is what I would like to get (and sure most landscapers too) but not a priority

Sell your 135L and get the Carl Zeiss Apo Sonnar T* 2/135 since it's a lot better than your Canon. It's one of the highest rated lenses on DXOMark (link 1 (external link) and link 2 (external link)).

That zeiss is twice the price that i got my 135L for and I doubt it will give me twice the performance. Im quite happy with the 135L, just wish it autofocussed fast on the A7R

I've got the SEL16mm and both converters, great concept, and works well with the 16mm, in my eyes the 16mm actually improved with the converters.
So now do I wait or spring for the 16-35 F4, def. not a priority since I'm pleased with the 10-18 on the A7r or my first gen 24mm tilt ****ft via the Metabones.

Last week I had the chance to play around with the Sony A7 camera for a few days and then decided to return it. It really is an amazing camera and I will eventually pick one up when I have a job again. But for the time being I can only look at pictures from other people and and from Sonyalpharumors and drool.

I decided to purchase it from my local electronics store after trying it out while I was in Vancouver. The only other cameras I had to compare this with was my Fuji X-Pro1 and Fuji X-E1 which are based on the same technology. And let me tell you it felt like night and day between these cameras, granted the X-Pro1 is over 2 years old now and technology can changes a lot in such a short time.

The speed at which this camera operates was extremely responsive and amazingly quick. I only used the Sony kit lens and I had no issues with focusing or taking an image. Even using the focus peaking mode where the image you are trying to focus on becomes highlighted with either white, blue or red was such a treat. For me, I was shooting in raw mode, but had the screen set to black and white with focus peaking and the magnification turned off and it felt so natural and quick. In controlled environments I had no issues nailing focus. Also, when using the electronic viewfinder I did not notice much or any lag, even in low light.

Compaired to the X-Pro1 and X-E1 this camera is a clear winner overall. It was nice and small as the X-E1 and was very feature heavy. But sadly my time with it came to an end. The reason why I decided to return it was due to the fact that it was still an expensive camera (if Sony is willing to do another 600$ price drop again I would be in line for one), I actually want to purchase the Sony A7s when the time is right, but will eventually settle for the A7. I now own the Fuji XT1 and this camera actually suprised me. It`s on par with the Sony A7 and has a built in timelapse (the video is posted on the Fuji thread). I really love how this camera handles manual focusing compared to others and actually ordered some cheap lens adapters for my M42 and Nikon F mount lenses. I don't really care for the auto focusing lenses that are coming down the road but I'm sure they are all amazing performers. I was actually surprised by their 28-70 mm kit lens. And really, the Sony A7 is such a good mirrorless camera. Mirrorless cameras really are something else.
