I pay for my own webhosting. It's $4 a month and $10/yr for each of my domains. I have my own and my wife has one. Small price to pay and I can host anything I want. The only limitation I have is a cap of 100,000 files which I'm no where near that.

You should probably remove imageshack from the first post in this thread under "Free Photo Hosts". As of January 2014, Imageshack moved from imageshack.us to imageshack.com, redesigned their site, and eliminated free hosting.

(Before January 2014, imageshack had free hosting for registered users, with pictures retained indefinitely. Until November 2013, you didn't even have to register - you could upload pictures anonymously, and they would be retained at least a year. But as of 2014, they only offer a free 30 day trial after registration, then you must upgrade to a paid account or lose the ability to upload pictures.)

Looking for a way to get a RAW file onto the forums in a different thread. Do these hosting sites work that way? I tried using dropbox however I couldn't figure out how to get them from dropbox to the forums here.

That won't do it. You'll need to find an URL which ends with .jpg
like

https://farm4.staticflickr.com …57098951_07a73b162e_b.jpg (external link)
With IMG tags:

IMAGE: https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3886/15157098951_07a73b162e_b.jpg

Hopefully there will be a solution coming soon in a forum near you. Our upcoming software will build the embed tags for you if you just give it the gallery page URL. :)

Some people have problems with PB. It could be that PhotoBucket has resized? From their support:

I always click on the image to get the 100% size that I've uploaded, & then use that URL for display.
So, click on the thumbnail. The image will open. Put the cursor over it & you'll see a (+). Click on the image again. Right-click on the image & choose "Copy Image Location". Paste that url between these tags:
IMG NOTICE: [NOT AN IMAGE URL, NOT RENDERED INLINE]
.

Or...
-=FAQ=- Images and Avatars, How, Where and Why -=FAQ=-

I have been researching these old threads and was attempting to achieve this. I click my thumbnail but a (+) doesn't appear at all after the image opens and when right clicking I don't get the option to "Copy image location". What am I doing wrong?

The instructions of PhotosGuy you are quoting were posted on 29th of December 2009 (Tue).
PhotoBucket has changed the user interface since then.

Basically, the + has been replaced by a gear symbol that appears when you put the cursor over the photo.

Check the Photobucket support: http://support.photobucket.com/hc/en-us (external link)
or Linking to forums instructions:
http://support.photobucket.com …0724424-Linking-to-Forums (external link)

You will be able to copy the BBcode to paste in your post.
Remember: For embedded images, the maximum allowed size in POTN is 1280 pixels on either side.

You're probably doing nothing "wrong". Looking at my latest uploads to PB now, I see that they've changes some things.
Can you see THIS IMAGE of a red GTO? (external link)
If you hold your cursor over it, some icons should appear above, one of them being a (+). Click it & Rt-click on the larger image & "Copy image location" should be there, at least it is in WInDoze7 & FFox.

I get as far as the larger image, when I right click it "Copy image location" isn't one of the options. I am on windows 8, wonder if that's the difference.

When I click on that link on my Tablet, I see four icons above the photo. The third one is two chain links. When I clicked on that it gives me the link.

I have no clue. Sorry.

The chain links icon didn't work for me, & it's not in the same 5 group I see when I hover over the image.
Wish these guys would stop "improving" things.
